I know the article is more about control but regarding the traffic excuse, with google maps and live traffic feeds - even the traffic is really under your control (or at least predictable to a degree). When I hear the traffic excuse too often from the same person it means they just don't know how to schedule their time or don't care enough to leave a buffer. Too harsh?

During my employee time sometimes I used this lame excuse... And then I realized that the problem lies in the lack of my own motivation... So I became freelancer and no more excuses.
